Fleet Saving
There are two schools of thought on fleet saving. Some feel it is necessary, some feel it isnt. The sad fact is, if you have a fleet. You NEED to fleet save. If you have no fleet, there's no need to fleetsave as you have no reason to save it. You should instead resource save... and I'll go through how to do this later on. Basically, fleet saving is sending out your entire fleet with all your resources so that no-one can attack and get hold of your fleet or resources. Leaving you to spend it on pretty things biggrin.gif
No-one can attack a fleet that's in transit, it can only be attacked on a planet. So the answer is of course... send your fleet away while you're not at your computer biggrin.gif

For the newbie method you'll need technology to make espionage probes, small cargo ships, and some deuterium.
As a new player you'll have very minimal fleet and saving acpabilities, but there are ways to fleet save still. The best way as a new player, is to get to small cargos. Build a few of those, we'll use those for fleet saving.
When you're ready to fleet save... spend a few minutes scanning your galaxy and neighbouring galaxies with probes to find someone who's inactive... with no defense or fleet there. Basically you're looking for someone with very low level mines, no shipyard and preferably no robotic factory or deuterium mine. (so they can't build a shipyard quickly, which means they can't build defense to counter your fleet save)

Once you've found a planet that's suitable, go to your fleet screen. Hit all ships then proceed. You'll be taken to a window with some co-ordinates. Enter the co-ordinates of the planet you want to use to save to, and make sure "planet" is selected. Now what you need to be careful of here is your speed, your speed is show in hours, minutes and seconds, but you must choose at what percentage of your ships top speed you want them to travel at. So 100% would be top speed, 50% would be half speed, 25% would be quarter speed etc.

You can only choose speeds in multiples of 10% by using the drop down window. Every time you choose a different percentage, the duration(one way) will change. Now remember, this is ONE WAY. Meaning that's how long it will take the fleet to reach the planets co-ordinates you've entered at the top. Which means it will take DOUBLE this time for the ships to get back to your planet. So what you need to do here is estimate how long you're going to be away from your computer and what time you're going to be back playing ogame. This part can be tricky, but try your best to get as close as possible. If you're abhout 30 mins out, don't worry about it.
If the time really doesn't work and your either hours before, or hours after... try and find a different planet to save to, this will effect the time it takes.

Anyway... that's the hard part. When you've done that, and calculated the time. You can select the mission and what resources to take. Choose attacking and take ALL your res with you.
That's it... you're done! That's how to fleet save for the newbie player.

Now... onto the more advanced player. You'll need the same as above, expect you'll need at least one recycler.
Basically you do exactly the same as above with the following exceptions:
You must choose the DF (debris field) instead of the planet to save to.. and you must choose harvesting when you choose the mission. Everything else is the same!

Other methods you can use:
For those people who don't have moons, deploy missions between colonies can be crucial to saving your fleet. If you have been phalanxed, and come back to find someone is trying to meet your fleet, you can recall the mission. Of course the way things are now, the fleet is in limbo equal to the time it was in flight, but at least you still have your fleet.

And that's basically it.... you can use any kind of ships you want to fleet save using attack, but cargos work better. Recyclers are by FAR the best way to fleet save. You can send to a debris field, so there's no risk of getting into a bad situtation.

Resource saving
Now, what can you do if you have no ships and you need to save your resources i hear you cry!!

Well there are a number of things you can do.
You can start some research that will finish AFTER you get back to your computer next. Or you can start building a building that will finish AFTER you get back to your computer next. You just cancel the building or research when you get back, and all your resources will be back!

Please note: DO NOT SPEND RES ON SHIPS OR DEFENSE WHEN TRYING TO SAVE!! You can't get any of this res back, you can't cancel a ship or defensive structure once you've started it!

And that's about it. I may have forgotten some things, and some people may have stuff to add, so check back if you like!

If you have something to add, please send a mesage to a admin and they may add it in
